A thigh lift is a great solution for dramatic weight loss. Often times, after weight loss, the skin loses its elasticity which enables the skin to tighten back up. To recreate the normal contour of the abdomen, arms, and thighs, usually requires excision of large amounts of skin.
The most common technique for a Thigh Lift has the incision starting at the groin and extending downward wrapping around the back of the thigh. The underlying tissue will be reshaped and tightened which leaves you with a smoother leg contour.
After an evaluation by Dr. Vela, you may qualify for a minimal medial thigh lift, which involves an incision only in the groin area. The skin is then stretched upwards and excised, and sutured into place at the groin.
If you’re looking to improve your outer thigh, you may have an incision extending from the groin around to the hip.
Dr. Vela will be able to help you make these decisions.
We will need you to wear a compression garment for several weeks post-op. This will help not only heal the area, but also tighten the skin.
Results are almost instant. You should expect there to be swelling and bruising as there is with almost every procedure.
Down time is 10-14 days for light activity and no severe exercising for 4-6 weeks post op.
