Brachioplasty (arm lift) is a procedure that reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow.
Under general anesthesia, Dr. Vela will make an incision that is appropriate for the location and amount of your excess skin around your arms. The incisions are on the inside or backside of your arm. They extend from the under arm area (axilla) to just above the elbow.
Liposuction is a common add-on procedure to help reduce the amount of excess fat in this area.
After the incision is made, the underlying supportive tissues are tightened and reshaped using internal sutures. Then, Dr. Vela will re-drape your skin over the new contour of your arm.
Results for an arm lift are almost immediately noticeable. There is of course swelling and bruising, and we encourage you to wear a compression garment/band around your arms so that it helps tighten the skin and promote healing.
The procedure lasts about 2 hours with one additional hour in the recovery room.
We expect you to be back to work in 1-2 weeks but encourage you to avoid strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks.
